Rules

Objective

  • Each player has 1 predator and 5 prey tokens. The object of the game is to collect as many points as possible by using your predator to catch as many of the other players’ prey as you can. To catch prey, your predator needs to land on the same space as the prey animal. You can catch more than one prey animal in a single turn.

  • YOU HAVE TO HAVE PREY TO PLAY – so once all your prey have been caught, you remove your predator from the board and your game is over. You keep all your accumulated points.

Rules

  • Begin the game by placing your predator on its starting point in the corners of the board, and by placing your prey animals wherever you want on the board (first come first serve).

  • The youngest player starts, and then play proceeds in a clockwise direction.

  • To move, you must throw both dice. You allocate one dice to moving your predator, and one dice to moving your prey. The predator moves the allocated number of spaces on the board as shown on one dice. You can move any number of your prey to total the number shown on the other dice, e.g. if you roll a 5, you can move 1 prey 5 spaces, OR 5 prey animals 1 space or any other combination making up a total of 5 spaces.

  • You have to move both your predator and at least 1 prey animal on each turn. You cannot skip a turn. You cannot move less than the number shown on each dice.

  • During a single turn, you cannot touch the same space on the board twice. If the predator or prey are blocked in and cannot move the required number of spaces, they move as much as they can and stop.

  • No space can be occupied by more than 1 token at a time, and tokens (predator or prey) cannot jump over other tokens, they have to go around.

  • No predator or prey tokens can land on the fixed obstacles on the board.

  • The last player with prey on the board keeps the points of their own prey still on the board and adds them to their overall tally.

  • If the scores are tied at the end, the winner is the last person to have prey on the board. The same applies for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

Obstacles

  • At the beginning of the game, there are no movable obstacles on the board.

  • When a player rolls doubles (any numbers), they must choose one of the four obstacles and place it on the board where ever they want to, fitting it with the pattern on the board and not overlapping the permanent obstacles. The obstacle can be placed before, during or after they have moved their tokens during that turn.

  • The next person to roll doubles, does the same with the next obstacle of their choice, and so on, until all 4 obstacles are on the board.

  • When all 4 obstacles are on the board and a player rolls a double, they have to remove any of the 4 obstacles already placed on the board and move it to a new position. You have to place or replace an obstacle each time a double is thrown.
